A Tapori Vision of a World Fit for Children

A Tapori Vision of a World Fit for Children published in 2007 is an updated version of the contribution of the International Movement ATD Fourth World to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Children (May 2002).

A Tapori Vision of a World Fit for Children highlights the many barriers for children in extreme poverty and outlines proposals for positive change toward the realization of their rights. Those with the power to effect change at the local and national level can ensure the rights of all children be respected by listening to and supporting the efforts of children experiencing poverty and of those who stand in solidarity with them.

Following the Special Session in 2002, ATD Fourth World has continued this work by exploring ways in which these commitments can be fulfilled.

Messages from children were gathered during a campaign carried out by the Tapori Movement in 1999 on the theme " My Heart is in this Stone ,” as well as from presentations made by delegations of children to international conferences. They also draw upon the results of two studies carried out by the International Movement ATD Fourth World and published in 2004: "How Poverty Separates Parents and Children: A challenge to human rights" and "Valuing Children, Valuing Parents: Focus on the family in the fight against child poverty in Europe.”
