Press release, Paris, October 18, 2010

Pierre Saglio has stepped down today from the Presidency of the ATD Fourth World Movement France. After having headed the Movement for eight years, he now would like to serve ATD Fourth World differently, and step down from the presidency. He believes that “it is indeed sound and important that organizations like ours give a democratic example where leaders know how to step down and let others take their place.”

Pierre-Yves Madiginer was elected by the Board of Administration to replace him. Aged 54, an executive in a global company, he has been a member of ATD Fourth World since 1976. Pierre-Yves Madignier will continue the work started by Pierre Saglio with Bruno Tardieu and Veronique Davienne, our French managers of the ATD Fourth World Movement: “I share the same ambition as Pierre Saglio to have our country progress to open access to rights to all.”

Pierre Saglio had replaced Paul Bouchet in 2002, who had replaced Genevieve Anthonioz - de Gaulle in 1998.

The new members of the ATD Fourth World France Board of Administration:
Pierre-Yves Madignier (President),
Marie-Aleth Grard, Claire Hedon (Vice-Presidentes),
Dominique de Saint-Gérand (General Secretary),
Patrick Duval (Assistant Secretary),
Jean-Charles Watiez (Treasorer),
Bruno Tardieu (National Delegate).

Wherever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated.
To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty.
