Living with 773 € per month
INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) data on poverty in France. Press release September 28, 2010
We know that this reality has now worsened because of the economic crisis. Other indications: according to INSEE, over half of these people survived with 773 euros per month. And the number of people with a very low income grew by 2.2% between 2007 and 2008 (10% of the population with very low incomes have an annual revenue below 10,520 euros.)
ATD Fourth World would like to remind you that the RSA (Active Solidarity Revenue) put in place in 2009 did absolutely nothing more for those people who had no income from working. It just replaced the RMI (Minimum Insertion Revenue) and the allocation for single parents (460 euros per month).
Moreover, those people who are extremely poor have had to affront suspicion as well as discrimination for social reasons, which is not only insidious, but unfair.
In 2007, the President of the French State promised to reduce poverty by one third in five years. The government promised to publish a dashboard each year which would indicate in all domains (education, accommodations, revenues, etc.) the evolution of poverty in France.
The ATD Fourth World Movement requests the publication of this dashboard before the next International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, on October 17, as in 2009. Thus for ATD Fourth World, this dashboard will be used as a civil and political mobilization tool.
