International Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty 2011

Here are photos from the commemoration held at Rizal Park last October 16, 2011 in Manila (Phlippines).
Hundreds of people from different communities, civic organizations, and government agencies as well private citizens attended the commemoration.

Highlights include the testimonials of ATD community members and friends regarding their fight agains poverty, the performance of the Balatuba Boys (group of teenagers from a public cemetery) performing and composing a rap number for their friend who died due to violence and poverty, and the launch of the ATD Walking Exhibit: Lakad Laban sa Kahirapan, Mga Larawan ng Pag-asa.

Local and international officials graced the event like DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, NAPC Secretary Joel Rocamora and UN Resident Coordinator Jacqueline Badcock.
