Between 12:30 and 12:45, they will gather around the Human Rights Stone for eradication of extreme poverty inaugurated 17 october 2007 at the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
„We have a dream about a world where extreme poverty does not exist anymore, a world that is just, where everyone can find its place” – Under this motto this year’s summer seminar organized by ATD Europe will take place in Kałkow near to Kielce.
From 22 till 28 August, 40 volunteers and friends of the "All Together for Dignity" Movement coming from France, Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland will gather to discuss about the role of volunteering in revitalising the spirit of solidarity in the society.
Recommendations from discussions lead during the seminar and artwork created by its participants during workshops will be then exhibited on the 9 september during the stay of European Year of Volunteering Tour 2011 pavilion in Warsaw.
The aim is to gather people from different paths of life, including those experiencing poverty and exclusion and create the atmosphere that would support each participant in his pursuit to explore his strengths and talents. Participants will animate and document discussions, participate in creative workshops (photo editing, woodcarving, music), share their knowledge, experience and hobbies.
The title of the seminar: „We have a dream” was chosen because of the date 28 of August. It refers to the famous speech given by Martin Luther King Jr. on the 28 August in 1963 in which King appealed for equality of rights and putting an end to discrimination. Big source of inspiration will also be taken from the work and thoughts of Joseph Wresinski (Founder of ATD) who believed the way to create the world based on solidarity is through knowledge, education and giving the voice to the people experiencing poverty to speak for themselves.
The project of the seminar is run under European Year of Volunteering and with financial support of French Embassy in Poland as well as sponsoring from Renault Polska.
