Unknown volunteers

In every country, in the North or in the South, people in poverty refuse to accept a life of misery. Supported by other members of their community and by volunteers from elsewhere, they are working to defend everybody’s dignity, and the right to live, work, and learn together; to share skills and know-how, and to promote peace and the participation of each and every person in their country’s future.
They are taking concrete steps to bring about these changes.
Rebuilding for Everyone with Everyone
"In some areas of Port au Prince, sometimes forgotten by international support, very poor families continue to fight for each other and not leave anyone alone with misery. With volunteers from ATD Fourth World, they refuse to be locked in emergency responses, they are involved in sustainable actions with the desire to help rebuild the country. Their commitment questions the practices of international aid. "

At the Festival, we dare to go out, because everyone can participate
Each summer, in the "City of Birds" housing complex (Liévin, northern France), the Festival of Arts and Learning allows residents of all ages to expand their horizons, work with artists, and—always with the concern of leaving no one behind—improve the image and reputation of the whole neighborhood.

We’re children fighting to eradicate poverty
In the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, impacted by war and poverty, young group leaders from the Tapori Movement convey the message to children in their poor neighborhood that it’s great to be friends with other kids who don’t have any friends. These children support efforts their parents make, try to urge them to act together to promote peace in their neighborhoods. Some of them were able to give testimonials in the UN in Geneva, for the 20th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
